With Kevin de Bruyne providing the first four goals, Haaland became the first player to score five or more goals in an FA Cup match for a top-tier team since George Best in 1970.

Additionally, Haaland’s first four goals were assisted by teammate Kevin De Bruyne, as City easily overcame a challenging match at Kenilworth Road.

With his first hat-trick away from the Etihad Stadium, Haaland equaled the Club record for the most FA Cup goals in a single game and increased his goal total to 26 for the season.

At Kenilworth Road, a signature City goal gave the team an early advantage they would never give up. With a sharp reverse ball, Matheus Nunes found De Bruyne, and Haaland swept home the Belgian’s cutback on the stretch.

On the eighteenth minute, City’s dynamic tandem once again came together as Haaland stopped Stefan Ortega’s perfect pass, lay it off to De Bruyne, and then quickly raced onto his super sidekick’s return pass to smash the ball under Tim Krul.

Before the half-hour mark, Haaland had two chances to tie the score, but experienced Krul stopped him both times. City were dominating. At the forty-minute mark, De Bruyne’s assist—which he completed with a perfect chip over the charging Krul—brought about the triple.

At the end of the half, Jordan Clark’s incredible attempt from 25 yards out to curl the ball into the top corner gave Luton a response. only after halfway, the deficit seemed out of nowhere to be only one. Following a dinked ball from Ross Barkley, Clark was once again on target, firing beyond Ortega.

However, after six minutes, the match was won thanks to goals from Haaland (his fourth and fifth of the game) and Mateo Kovacic (a sixth goal before late substitutions by Pep Guardiola).
