In the early 1980s, Peters won over viewers with her depiction of the benevolent Mrs. Whitaker, who offered insightful counsel from her Beecher’s Corners farmhouse kitchen. In the plot of Genie Francis’s portrayal of Laura Spencer, her character was crucial in helping Laura negotiate the difficulties of adolescent love with Anthony Geary’s character, Luke Spencer.

Born from a family of talented children in coastal New Jersey, Peters began her career in entertainment in 1955 with the Broadway production of “Inherit the Wind.” She demonstrated her flexibility by playing parts like Mrs. Brady before moving into regional theater and appearing on venues all throughout the nation, including the Fiesta Dinner Playhouse and the Sacramento Music Circus.

In addition to her unforgettable time on “General Hospital,” Peters had prominent roles in television series such as “The Waltons,” “Quantum Leap,” and “Mr. Belvedere.” She also made a lasting impression on the big screen by appearing in movies such as “Back to School” and “Where Love Has Gone.”

Sean Williams, Peters’ son, and stepdaughters Barbara Davison and Monica Lange, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, grandkids, and great-grandchildren, survive her. Her spouse Jack Danon, who also had a penchant for performing, passed away before her.

Peters was a committed part of the entertainment industry over her lengthy career. She belonged to esteemed groups including the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Actor’s Equity Association, and Screen Actors Guild.

As we say goodbye to Beth Peters, we will never forget her warmth and generosity, which she brought to every character she played, both on and off screen, in addition to her skill and contributions to the arts. I hope that her legacy will continue to motivate artists in the next years.
