When Neeraj Chopra instructed Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan on how to get a new javelin

Arshad Nadeem from Pakistan and Neeraj Chopra from India are two javelin superstars who represent the epitome of perfect friendship. Off the field, they are renowned for their comradery and good humor. Despite their intense rivalry, they maintain a good level of respect for one another.

Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem are both preparing for the next outdoor season. Nadeem, 27, is presently training in Turkey, but Chopra’s plans have encountered a “snag.”

According to the Pakistani, he has been “using one for the past seven to eight years” and has been battling for years to get an international quality javelin.

The world and current Olympic champion, Chopra, is taken aback by this news.

Chopra, who ran with Nadeem at the global athletics championships in Budapest last year, said in a recent exclusive interview with SAI Media: “It is hard to believe that he has been struggling to get a new javelin.” This shouldn’t be a major problem at all, considering his qualifications.”

“It has now got to a stage where the javelin is damaged and I have asked the national federation and my coach to do something about it before the Paris Olympics,” said Arshad Nadeem, who placed second in Budapest behind Chopra.

“When I started off in 2015, competing in international events I got this javelin … for an international athlete aiming to win a medal in the Olympic Games, you need proper equipment and training facilities,” Nadeem said.

Nadeem is the pride of Pakistan, according to Chopra, who receives funding from the Indian sports ministry’s Target Olympic Podium Scheme for all of his training and overseas trips.

Arshad Nadeem finished first on the podium at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Alabama, after setting a new javelin throw record with a throw of 90.18 meters. Pakistan’s 60-year search for a gold medal at the CWG came to an end.

“It’s hardly possible that Arshad lacks the funds to purchase a javelin. Being a champion, he probably endorses several brands. I believe he has also made some money. Having said that, his administration is able to consider Arshad’s requirements and provide for him in the same manner that my government does,” Chopra said.

Arshad is also a very good javelin thrower, therefore I’m sure the javelin manufacturers will be more than willing to support him and provide him what he desires. From my end, here’s some advise,” the CWG medalist said.

If all goes according to plan, there may be a strong Asian field in the javelin discipline at the next Olympics in Paris. India will be led by Chopra and Kishore Jena, while Nadeem, who placed sixth in the Tokyo Olympics, will want to repeat a throw of more than ninety meters in Paris and become a real danger to the Europeans who typically dominate this event.

The Pakistani had a major elbow surgery in the UK in December 2022.

Nadeem missed the Hangzhou Asian Games, where Chopra won the gold medal, due to a bothersome knee surgery he had done the previous year. The Diamond League leg in Doha in May marks the beginning of the outdoor javelin season.
